High School Resume Template (With No Work Experience) — 2026 Guide
A free high school resume template plus 12 real bullet examples. Built for students with zero job history — classes, clubs, sports, and volunteering all count.
Writing a high school resume feels impossible when you've never had a "real" job. Good news: you have more material than you think. This guide shows exactly what to put on a high school resume with no work experience — and how to make it sound professional without lying.
The 1-page high school resume template
Use this exact order. Don't reinvent it.
- Header — name, phone, email, city, LinkedIn (if you have one).
- Objective — one sentence on what you want and what you bring.
- Education — school, expected graduation, GPA if 3.5+, relevant classes.
- Experience — clubs, sports, volunteering, babysitting, lawn care, tutoring, school projects.
- Skills — software, languages, certifications, and at least one AI tool.
- Awards & activities — honor roll, captain, student council, hackathons.
12 real bullet examples (steal these)
From school clubs
- Led 14-member robotics club to regional finals; coordinated weekly build sessions and a $1,200 budget.
- Organized 4 fundraisers as student council treasurer, raising $3,800 for the senior trip.
- Founded a coding club from scratch; grew to 22 active members in one semester.
From volunteering
- Tutored 6 elementary students weekly in math; 5 of 6 improved a full letter grade.
- Sorted and packed 200+ meals per shift at the local food bank over 60 service hours.
- Trained 4 new volunteers on intake procedures at the animal shelter.
From part-time work or side hustles
- Babysat for 5 families on weekends, managing meals, homework, and bedtime for kids ages 4–10.
- Ran a lawn-care route of 12 neighborhood clients; scheduled appointments and tracked income in a spreadsheet.
- Built and sold custom Discord bots to 3 paying clients using Python and ChatGPT for debugging.
From sports and arts
- Varsity soccer captain (Junior, Senior): led 22-player team to district championship.
- Performed lead role in spring musical after 80+ hours of rehearsal across 4 months.
- Edited the school yearbook (160 pages, team of 9) using Adobe InDesign; shipped on deadline.
What to leave OFF a high school resume
- Photos, age, marital status — illegal for employers to consider in the US.
- Middle school activities (unless genuinely outstanding).
- "References available on request" — wastes a line.
- Generic skills like "hardworking" or "team player" with no proof.
Don't forget AI literacy
The Class of 2026 is the first generation employers expect to be AI-fluent. List at least one AI tool you've actually used (ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude, Notion AI) and one honest sentence on how — "used ChatGPT to outline essays and fact-checked against textbook" beats a generic skills list.
